This article walks you through using Setup Optimiser in GO Fast from start to finish.
Step 1: Drive a few laps
Before opening Setup Optimiser, head out on track and drive a few laps. Focus on how the car feels rather than lap times. Pay attention to handling issues such as understeer, oversteer, or instability over kerbs, and notice where in the corner they happen.
Step 2: Open Setup Optimiser and select a setup
In GO Fast, open the Setup Optimiser tab. If you are in an active session, the car and track are detected automatically. Select the setup you want to optimise. You can choose one of your own setups or a setup from the GO Setups library.
Step 3: Describe your handling issue
Setup Optimiser guides you through four steps to describe the problem you are experiencing:
- Choose the problem. Select the handling issue, such as understeer, oversteer, or instability over kerbs.
- Pick where it happens. Identify the corner phase: entry, mid corner, or exit.
- Set the speed range. Specify whether it happens at low, medium, or high speed corners.
- Rate the severity. Use a scale from 1 to 5 to indicate how serious the problem is.
Based on your input, Setup Optimiser suggests specific setup parameter changes. These stay within recommended limits set by professional sim drivers.
Step 4: Apply changes
In ACC and LMU, Setup Optimiser can apply the suggested changes to your setup automatically. In iRacing, setup files are encrypted by the game, so you will need to apply the changes manually in the garage.
Step 5: Test and refine
Go back on track and drive at least three laps to test the result. Then return to Setup Optimiser and choose one of the following:
- Problem solved. Move on or address a different handling issue.
- Same problem. Adjust the severity rating and get updated suggestions.
- Different problem. Start a new feedback flow for the new issue.
- Wrong direction. Undo the adjustment and restart with different input.
Repeat this process until the car handles the way you want. For more guidance, see Tips for Getting the Best Optimiser Results.
