iRacing setup names from GO follow a specific structure that differs slightly between Road and Oval disciplines. Understanding the format lets you quickly identify the right file for your session.
iRacing Road naming format
GO [Season Version] [Series] [Car] [Track] [Type] [Variant] [Version]
For example: GO 26S1 IMSA 720S GT3 Daytona R Esport Alternative
iRacing Oval naming format
Oval setups use a simplified structure:
GO [Season Version] [Series/Car] [Track] [Type] [Variant]
For example: GO 26S1 NextGen BristolDirt R Looser
What each part means
GO identifies this as a GO Setups file.
Season Version (e.g. 26S1) indicates the iRacing season the setup was built for. 26S1 means 2026 Season 1. iRacing changes physics and content each season, so this tells you whether the setup was built for the current season.
Series (Road only, e.g. IMSA) is the official iRacing series the setup is designed for. This matters because BOP and regulations differ between series.
Car (e.g. 720SGT3) is the car model abbreviation.
Track (e.g. Daytona, BristolDirt) is the track. For Oval, this may include the track variant.
Type indicates whether the setup is for Qualifying (Q), Race (R) or Endurance races (Endu).
Variant describes the setup style. Road variants include Esport (maximum performance), Safe (more forgiving), HighDownforce/LowDownforce (formulas only). Oval variants include Looser (more oversteer), Tighter (more understeer), and Balanced versions, reflecting oval driving preferences.
Version (Road only) such as ''BOP'' indicates a specific Balance of Performance regulation the setup is tuned for, ''Alternative'' on the other hand defines a different approach to the same Type/Variant for drivers who look for a different driving style.
Key difference from other sims
iRacing uses a Season Version (e.g. 26S1) instead of a Game Version number. This is because iRacing content updates are seasonal rather than through patch versions. Other GO sims (ACC, LMU, AMS2, AC) use a Game Version number like 1.10.3 instead.
