If a setup feels wrong after installation, it is usually one of a few common causes. Work through these points before adjusting the setup yourself.
Make sure you are using the right setup
Setups are built for specific conditions including tyre compound, fuel level, and track temperature. If you are running a qualifying setup in a race on heavy fuel, or using a setup from a different week in iRacing, it will not feel as intended. Check the setup description for the conditions it was created in.
Driving style differences
Our setups are developed by engineers who drive at a high level of consistency. If the car feels nervous or understeery compared to what you expect, it may be that the setup is working correctly but your inputs are slightly different to what it was optimised for. Give it a few laps to adjust your driving style to the car rather than the other way around.
Sim-specific calibration
Pedal calibration, force feedback strength, steering ratio settings, and controller deadzone all affect how a setup feels without changing the setup file itself. If a setup feels significantly different on the same car and track to a previous session, check whether any input settings changed.
Tyre pressures and temperature
If tyre pressures are outside the optimal window, the car will handle poorly regardless of how well the setup is built. Make sure your tyre pressures are in range after a warm-up lap, not on the outlap. For ACC, use the Tyre Pressure Tool as a reference for optimal pressures per tyre compound.
Trying the Setup Optimiser
If the setup is consistently not working for your style, use GO Fast Setup Optimiser. It analyses your telemetry and suggests specific setup adjustments based on how you drive, helping you find a configuration that suits you better while keeping the core setup intact.
