With multiple setup types available for each car and track, choosing the right one depends on what you are doing. Here is how the setup types work.
Esport vs Safe setups
All sims include both Esport and Safe setups. Esport setups are aggressive and fully optimised to extract maximum performance in qualifying or race conditions. Safe setups are more forgiving and stable, slightly slower than Esport, but a reliable baseline for consistent driving. If you are new to a track or car, start with the Safe setup. If you are pushing for competitive pace, use the Esport setup.
Qualifying vs Race
Both Esport and Safe setups come in Qualifying (Q) and Race (R) variants. Qualifying setups are tuned for maximum single-lap pace at low fuel. Race setups are built for a full stint, balancing tyre management and stability. For most sessions, the Race setup is the right starting point. Switch to Qualifying only when doing a low-fuel qualifying run.
Endurance setups (LMU and iRacing)
LMU and iRacing bundles also include Endurance setups. These are built for long stint sessions that require overall stability and consistency across long races. Use them for endurance events or any session where tyre and fuel management over an extended run is more important than outright single-lap pace.
Hybrid and Wet setups (ACC only)
ACC bundles include Hybrid setups, designed to work across varying fuel loads and mixed conditions, making them a solid choice for endurance races or unpredictable weather. MED WET setups are optimised specifically for intermediate and wet conditions. See What Is a Hybrid Setup? for more detail.
LFM and UKOG LFM setups (ACC only)
ACC bundles include LFM setups, adapted to the Low Fuel Motorsport Balance of Performance. UKOG LFM setups are exclusive versions created by George Boothby (SRO Esports Champion), available for selected cars. Use these when racing on LFM servers.
iRacing weekly releases
iRacing setups are released every week to match the current season schedule. Always use the latest version available. Special event setups are released separately and clearly labelled. See When Are iRacing Setups Released Each Week? for the release schedule.
Version numbers
Setup names include a version number. Always use the highest number as it is the latest revision.
If you are unsure
Start with the Race variant of the Safe setup. Take it for a few laps to feel how the car responds, then move to the Esport or Qualifying variant once you are comfortable.
